To provide a rod body for a fishing rod having strong and weak two kinds of rod powers, and simple to be used differently, and easy to be handled; and to provide a fishing rod.SOLUTION: A rod body 1 for a fishing rod has a tube body having a hollow inside along a longer direction. In a cross section orthogonal to the central axis 1a of the tube body, and in at least either of an outer shape part 2 forming the external surface of the tube body and an inner shape part 3 for forming the inner peripheral surface of the tube body, the maximum diameter part 1B where an inner diameter from the central axis 1a to the external surface or the inner peripheral surface is largest, and the minimum diameter part 1C where the inner diameter is smallest are crossed orthogonally.
