To provide a zoom lens which has a large aperture ratio and yet is compact as a whole and offers superior optical performance, and to provide an image capturing device having the same.SOLUTION: A zoom lens provided herein comprises, in order from the object side, a first lens group having positive refractive power, a second lens group having negative refractive power, and one or more lens groups, and also includes an intermediate group M having positive refractive power as a whole, a lens group F having negative refractive power, and a rear group R having one or more lens groups, the intermediate group M including at least two or more lens surfaces Si acting as bonding surfaces and divergent surfaces. The zoom lens is configured such that distances between adjacent lens groups change while zooming and the lens group F moves along an optical axis while focusing, and satisfies given conditional expressions.
