Zusammenfassung:	To provide an information processing unit and an information processing method which can generate an index related to a cooling ability by measuring physical quantities outside an air conditioner.SOLUTION: An embodiment of an information processing unit comprises a data generating part and an index generating part. The data generating part generates a data set which relates temperature differences in a railway vehicle passenger room during plural time sections with utilization or non-utilization of an air conditioner compressor. The index generating part generates an index related with a cooling capacity of the air conditioner which generates the temperature differences using data generated by the data generating part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】空調機外の物理量の測定により冷房能力に関連する指標を生成可能な情報処理装置、及び情報処理方法を提供する。【解決手段】本実施形態の情報処理装置は、データ生成部と、指標生成部と、を備える。データ生成部は、複数の時間区分における鉄道車両の車内の温度差と、空調機の圧縮機の稼働又は非稼働と、を関連付けたデータセットを生成する。指標生成部はデータ生成部が生成したデータを用いて、車内の温度差を生じさせる空調機の冷房能力に関連する指標を生成する。【選択図】図１
