Zusammenfassung: | To provide a protection system which enables the rise of a DC voltage in a DC circuit to be changed when necessary.SOLUTION: In a variable-speed withdrawal power generation system to which the protection system is applied, a secondary excitation converter 1 comprises at least one chopper 14 that suppresses the rise of a DC voltage in a DC circuit and a control device 2 that causes the chopper to operate multiple resistors. When a system failure occurs, whether to operate an excessive voltage prevention device immediately on the basis of a reactive power command value or a reactive current command value can be appropriately determined. The operation of the excessive voltage prevention device is advanced to prevent a zero cross error from occurring by reducing the number of choppers to be operated in a group 14 of N choppers when necessary.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
