To provide a magnetic recording/reproducing device capable of reducing the transfer of contaminants to a magnetic head.SOLUTION: A magnetic recording/reproducing device 1 includes: a disk-shaped magnetic recording medium 2; a motor 3 for rotationally driving the magnetic recording medium 2; a magnetic head 4 having a magnetic head element for reading information and a magnetic head element for writing the information with respect to the magnetic recording medium 2; and a bias circuit for supplying a predetermined bias voltage to the magnetic head element for reading the information. The magnetic recording medium has a magnetic layer and a carbon protection layer in this order on a substrate.
