Zusammenfassung:To provide a method for producing terminal-modified polyphenylene ether capable of reducing residual impurities, specifically a chlorine component, generated at a process of modifying polyphenylene ether, with a less decrease in modification rate at a treatment step without drastically increasing an amount of a solvent used.SOLUTION: A method for producing terminal-modified polyphenylene ether includes: a modification reaction step of performing a modification reaction of a terminal of polyphenylene ether in a solution containing the polyphenylene ether, a modified group material including chlorine, a catalyst, an amine and a solvent; and an impurity removal step of treating the solution after the modification reaction by an absorbent to remove impurities including a chlorine component. A particle size of the absorbent is 0.5 mm to 20 mm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】ポリフェニレンエーテルを変性する工程で生じる残存不純物、特に塩素成分を低減し、かつ、溶媒使用量を大幅に増加させることなく、処理の工程で変性率の低下も少ない末端変性ポリフェニレンエーテルを提供すること。【解決手段】以下の工程:ポリフェニレンエーテル、塩素を含む変性基原料、触媒、アミン、及び溶媒を含む溶液中で前記ポリフェニレンエーテルの末端の変性反応を行う変性反応工程;及び前記変性反応後の溶液を吸着剤で処理して塩素成分を含む不純物を除去する不純物除去工程;を含み、前記吸着剤の粒子径が0.5mm~20mmである、末端変性ポリフェニレンエーテルの製造方法。【選択図】図1
