TIP COVER AND MACHINE TOOL

To provide a tip cover and a machine tool capable of further simplifying a structure of a lifting cover which is lifted up/down following a cross rail.SOLUTION: There is provided a machine tool 1 comprising: a mounting table 3 on which workpiece is mounted; a cross rail 5 capable of being lifted up/down above the mounting table 3; and a main shaft head 7 supported to the cross rail 5. The tip cover 10 comprises: an opening/closing cover 13 which crosses the cross rail 5 and is movable in a horizontal opening/closing direction; a notch 131 which is formed at a cross part of the opening/closing cover 13 with the cross rail 5; a lifting cover 14 which is lifted up/down along the notch 131 and can close the notch; and a coupling mechanism 140 for lifting up/down, the lifting cover 14 following the cross rail 5.
