To highly accurately count the number of scaffold materials that are returned and suppress the work load.SOLUTION: A scaffold material counting system for counting the number of scaffold materials for construction that are stacked comprises: a portable type information processing terminal 3 which has an optical camera 35 that captures an optical image and a distance sensor 36 that acquires a distance image in a visual field including at least a visual field of the optical image; and an information processing device 1 which is connected to the portable type information processing terminal via an Internet line 7 for estimating the number of scaffold materials. The portable type information processing terminal generates a background-removed image in which a background that is far with respect to the scaffold materials is removed from the optical image by using a distance image on the basis of a distance input by a user operation.
