Zusammenfassung:To provide a production method of a spherical silica aerogel, capable of performing treatment by a normal reactor, and efficiently performing silylation treatment.SOLUTION: A production method of a spherical silica aerogel includes, in the following order, steps of: preparing an aqueous silica sol; forming a W/O type emulsion by dispersing the aqueous silica sol in a hydrophobic solvent; converting the W/O type emulsion into a dispersion liquid of a gelatinized body; separating the dispersion liquid into two layers of an O phase and a W phase; adding a basic substance to the W phase to ripen the gelatinized body dispersed in the W phase; removing the O phase; subjecting the gelatinized body dispersed in the W phase to silylation treatment by silazane; adjusting the W phase to pH 7 or less; extracting the gelatinized body silylated with a hydrophobic organic solvent; and collecting the silylated gelatinized body and obtaining powder comprising a hydrophobic spherical silica aerogel. In the step of silylation treatment, the pH of the dispersion liquid is adjusted to 8 or more and 10 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】 通常の反応装置で処理が行え、効率よくシリル化処理ができる球状シリカエアロゲルの製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】 水性シリカゾルを調製する工程、該水性シリカゾルを疎水性溶媒中に分散させてW/O型エマルションを形成させる工程、前記W/O型エマルションをゲル化体の分散液へと変換する工程、該分散液を、O相とW相の2層に分離する工程、W相に塩基性物質を加えて、該W相に分散するゲル化体を熟成する工程、O相を除去する工程、W相に分散するゲル化体をシラザン類でシリル化処理する工程、W相をpH7以下に調整する工程、疎水性有機溶媒でシリル化したゲル化体を抽出する工程、シリル化したゲル化体を回収し、疎水性の球状シリカエアロゲルからなる粉体を得る工程を上記順に含んでなる、球状シリカエアロゲルの製造方法において、前記シリル化処理する工程では、分散液のpHを8以上10以下に調整する。【選択図】 なし
