After the carrier is dispersed in water and subjected to ultrasonic irradiation, the amount of the coating resin layer peeled off from the magnetic particle is 800 mass ppm or more and 2000 mass ppm or less based on the coating amount of the coating resin layer before the ultrasonic irradiation. The difference between an initial coating amount of the coating resin layer of a carrier without a travel history and the coating amount of the coating resin layer of the carrier extracted from an electrostatic charge image developer with a travel history is 0 mass ppm or more and 3000 mass ppm or less based on the initial coating amount of the coating resin layer.SELECTED DRAWING: None
