Zusammenfassung:To provide a method for producing a halocarbonyl compound in good yield without requiring an expensive oxidizing agent or a metal salt which is feared to reside, while suppressing an amount of use of a halogen cation source.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a halocarbonyl compound, including a reaction step of electrolytically reacting a cyclic compound represented by the following formula (1) in a solution containing a halide salt and an ammonium salt to obtain a halocarbonyl compound represented by the following formula (1'). The cyclic compound represented by the following formula (1) is a compound having a ring A having a hydroxy group and R1.
