Zusammenfassung:To provide a rotary electric machine having structure which can be miniaturized, and a drive unit.SOLUTION: A rotary electric machine 10 comprises: a rotor 30; a stator; a housing 20; an inverter device 80; a bus bar 84a; and a hollow pipe member 50 accommodated inside the housing 20. The inside of the housing 20 is provided with: a first area 24a located between an outer surface of a stator core 41 and an inner surface of the housing 20 by being viewed in an axial direction; and a second area 24b located between the outer surface of the stator core 41 and the inner surface of the housing 20 by being viewed in the axial direction, and arranged at an interval from the first area 24a in a circumferential direction. The second area 24b is wider than the first area 24a. The pipe member 50 overlaps the first area 24a by being viewed in the axial direction.
