To provide a method for producing a copolymer containing a constitutional unit derived from α-methylene lactone, and capable of improving the transparency of the produced copolymer.SOLUTION: The present invention discloses a method for producing a copolymer containing a constitutional unit derived from alkylmethacrylate, having a constitutional unit derived from α-methylene lactone and a C1-6 alkyl group. The production method includes: a first step of preparing a liquid mixture containing α-methylene lactone, alkylmethacrylate, and solvent; and a second step of heating the liquid mixture and instilling α-methylene lactone into the heated liquid mixture.
