Zusammenfassung:To solve such a problem that the work becomes ambitious and many man-hours are required when replacing a cable upon the replacement of an image sensor, since a frame and the like constituting a base body of an image reading device are required to be detached.SOLUTION: An upper unit that can open/close an upper portion of a lower unit comprises: a first reading section which is provided in a medium conveyance path and reads a surface of a medium which is conveyed; a substrate which is connected to the first reading section; a cable whose one end is connected to a first connection portion of the first reading section and whose other end is connected to a second connection portion of the substrate; and a detachable opposed portion which is a member opposite to a lower unit in such a state that the upper unit is closed. The first connection portion and the second connection portion are arranged apart from each other in the width direction intersecting the medium conveyance direction in the medium conveyance path.
