Zusammenfassung: | To determine a positional deviation of a carriage provided with reading means in a short time.SOLUTION: An image reading device 1 comprises: reading means 1210 which reads an image of a document; a carriage 121 which moves together with the reading means 1210; a detector 1212 which is provided in the carriage 121 and has a prescribed width in the movement direction of the carriage 121; a detection sensor 129 which is turned into the detection state when the detector 1212 is at the opposite position, and is turned into the non-detection state when the detector 1212 is not at the opposite position; and a control unit 300 which can execute a positional deviation determination operation for determining a positional deviation of the carriage 121 in the movement direction. The control unit 300 starts movement of the carriage 121 when the detection sensor 129 is in the detection state as the positional deviation determination operation and determines the positional deviation of the carriage 121 on the basis of a movement amount of the carriage 121 until the detection sensor 129 is turned into the non-detection state from the detection state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
