To provide a purification system of mercury contaminated soil and a purification method of mercury contaminated soil in which mercury is efficiently recovered from mercury-containing gas generated by a thermal desorption method targeting mercury contaminated soil, and a processing amount of contaminated soil can be reduced.SOLUTION: A purification system of mercury contaminated soil 1 has: a heater 10 which heats mercury contaminated soil to obtain mercury-containing gas that contains mercury; a wet absorption device 20 which brings the mercury-containing gas in contact with sulfuric acid acidic potassium permanganate solution, and allows the sulfuric acid acidic potassium permanganate solution to absorb mercury included in the mercury-containing gas to obtain mercury-absorbing solution and exhaust gas; a mercury reductor 30 which adds reductant to the mercury-absorbing solution to evaporate mercury; a removing device 40 which brings the evaporated mercury in contact with adsorbent for mercury to remove mercury; and an exhaust gas treatment device 50 which brings the exhaust gas in contact with the adsorbent to remove a contaminant other than mercury included in the exhaust gas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】水銀汚染土壌を対象として熱脱着方法によって発生した水銀含有ガスから水銀を効率よく回収し、汚染土壌の処理量を減容できる水銀汚染土壌の浄化システム及び水銀汚染土壌の浄化方法。【解決手段】水銀汚染土壌を加熱して、水銀を含む水銀含有ガスを得る加熱装置１０と、前記水銀含有ガスを硫酸酸性過マンガン酸カリウム溶液に接触させ、前記水銀含有ガスに含まれる水銀を前記硫酸酸性過マンガン酸カリウム溶液に吸収させて水銀吸収溶液と排ガスとを得る湿式吸収装置２０と、前記水銀吸収溶液に還元剤を加えて水銀を気化させる水銀還元装置３０と、前記の気化した水銀を水銀用吸着剤と接触させて水銀を除去する除去装置４０と、前記排ガスを吸着剤に接触させて、前記排ガスに含まれる水銀以外の汚染物質を除去する排ガス処理装置５０と、を有する、水銀汚染土壌の浄化システム１。【選択図】図１
