ESTIMATION METHOD, PRINTING METHOD, AND PRINTER

To provide a technique capable of estimating an expansion/contraction state of a base material according to submitted data before printing.SOLUTION: A printer includes a conveyance mechanism 10, heads 21 to 24, and an estimation part 44. The conveyance mechanism 10 conveys a long belt-like base material in a longer direction along a predetermined conveyance path. The heads 21 to 24 discharge ink onto a surface of the base material conveyed by the conveyance mechanism 10 on the basis of submitted data D1. The estimation part 44 outputs an estimation result D5 showing an expansion/contraction state of the base material by the ink on the basis of the submitted data D1 before printing of the submitted data D1. Thereby, the estimation result D5 of the expansion/contraction state according to the submitted data D1 can be obtained.
