Zusammenfassung: | To provide a liquid discharge device and a control method of the liquid discharge device, which can remove air in a liquid storage section while suppressing an increase in size of the liquid discharge device.SOLUTION: A liquid discharge device includes: a liquid discharge head which discharges liquid from a nozzle; a liquid storage section which has a storage chamber capable of storing liquid supplied from a liquid supply source to the liquid discharge head; and a carriage on which the liquid discharge head and the liquid storage section are mounted and which can reciprocate in a scanning direction X. The liquid discharge device further includes: discharge flow passages F1, F2 which can discharge air in an upper section within the storage chamber; a connection section 91 which can be connected to/separated from connected sections 71 of the discharge flow passages F1, F2; and a negative pressure generation section which applies negative pressure to the connection section 91. The carriage moves to a prescribed position, so that the connection section 91 is connected to the connected sections 71 of the discharge flow passages F1, F2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 21
