Zusammenfassung:To provide an automatic transmission which includes clutches and achieves reduction of axial dimensions of the clutches.SOLUTION: An automatic transmission has: one side clutch 10 including friction plates 13 on an axis of a power transmission shaft 2; and the other side clutch 20 including friction plates 23. A pressing part 14a of a piston 14 of the one side clutch 10 and a pressing part of the piston 24 of the other side clutch 20 are disposed overlapping with each other in an axial direction. A radial part 14b of the piston 14 of the one side clutch 10 and a radial part 24b of the piston 24 of the other side clutch 20 are arranged parallel to each other in the axial direction at one axial side relative to the friction plates 13 of the one side clutch 10.
