To provide an image reading device capable of reducing possibility of occurrence of the jam of a sheet even though comprising an upstream guide member and a downstream guide member movable to an opposite position and to a retreat position.SOLUTION: An adjustment unit comprises: a guide plate 620 which forms a discharge path 432; an upstream guide shutter 601 and a downstream guide shutter 602 which are movable to an opposite position that is opposite to the guide plate 620 to form the discharge path 432 and a retreat position retreating from the opposite position; and image reading means which is opposite to the guide plate 620, movably arranged in a width direction, and reads image information of a sheet.
