To provide a periphery monitoring device for a vehicle which can accurately perform recording in response to another vehicle that moves sideways.SOLUTION: A virtual boundary line continuously showing a boundary of a travel lane 60 without a defective part and a virtual circle assuming contours of tires of another vehicle 50 that travels side by side are overlapped on a lateral photographed image captured by a lateral camera 26. A recording control unit performs control so as to start recording of an image for recording in a storage when the virtual boundary line and the virtual circle cross each other.
