To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent a change in hue.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus can form an image by using color materials in different colors from each other, and is provided with: determination means (STEP 30) that determines the presence or absence of the possibility that insufficiency of the adhesion amount of the color material occurs in image formation using a color material in a first color (Bk); and control means that, when the determination means determines that the possibility exists, causes to perform formation of an image that is to be formed with the color material in the first color in two-color formation (STEP 36) in which only second color image formation with a color material in a second color different from the first color (C or M) is added to first color image formation with the color material in the first color. It is preferable to perform the first color image formation and the second color image formation such that the color material in the first color is located on the color material in the second color on a medium on which the image is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】色味の変化を抑制できる画像形成装置を提供する。【解決手段】互いに異なる色の色材を用いて画像を形成し得る画像形成装置において、第一色（Ｂｋ）の色材を用いた画像形成にあたって色材付着量不足が生じる可能性の有無を判別する判別手段（ＳＴＥＰ３０）と、判別手段が可能性ありと判別した場合に、第一色の色材で形成すべき画像の形成を、第一色の色材による第一色画像形成に、第一色とは異なる第二色の色材（Ｃ又はＭ）による第二色画像形成のみを付加する二色形成（ＳＴＥＰ３６）で行わせる制御手段とを設けた。画像を形成する媒体上で、第二色の色材の上に、第一色の色材が位置するように第一色画像形成及び第二色画像形成を行うことが好ましい。【選択図】図３
