Zusammenfassung:To regularly and stably detect timing for passing a chain roller to continuously detect elongation of a chain stably, without depending on an installation place of a passenger conveyor and a condition such as a pollution status of the chain, using a reflectance-type optical sensor.SOLUTION: A chain elongation detection device of a passenger conveyor according to an embodiment detects elongation of a chain, on the basis of output from a pair of reflectance-type optical sensors, using the pair of reflectance-type optical sensors arranged to separate by a predetermined distance from each other in an extending direction of the chain to be detected for elongation of the chain. The reflectance-type optical sensor comprises a projecting element that emits projected light and a light receiving element that receives reflected light reflected on a surface to be detected of an object to be detected. An arrangement position and a mounting-direction of the projected light element are set so that an arrangement position of the light receiving element is in an area where intensity of directly-reflected light of reflected light reflected on the surface to be measured of the projected light is low enough not to influence the measurement and is in an area where intensity of diffuse reflected light is high enough for the measurement.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】反射型光センサを使いながら、乗客コンベアの設置場所、チェーンの汚損状態などの条件によらず、常に安定してチェーンローラの通過タイミングを検出し、チェーン伸びを継続的に安定して検出する。【解決手段】実施形態の乗客コンベアのチェーン伸び検出装置は、チェーン伸び検出対象のチェーンの延在方向に所定距離離間して配置された一対の反射型光センサと、一対の反射型光センサの出力に基づいて、チェーンの伸びを検出する乗客コンベアのチェーン伸び検出装置であって、反射型光センサは、投射光を出射する投光素子と、検出対象物の検出対象面において反射した反射光を受光する受光素子と、を備え、受光素子の配置位置が投射光の測定対象面により反射された反射光のうち、直接反射光の強度が測定に影響を与えない程度に低い領域、かつ、拡散反射光の強度が測定に十分な強度となる領域となるように、投光素子の配置位置及び取付向きが設定されている。【選択図】図6
