IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent a variation in the number of printing sheets between toner containers by increasing the accuracy of detection of the amount of toner in a developing device performed by a toner sensor.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a developing device; a toner container; a toner sensor; a calculation unit; and a control unit. The toner sensor has a toner supply detection level A for detecting the starting state of toner supply from the toner container to the developing device, a toner low detection level B for detecting a low state in which the amount of toner is equal to or less than a certain amount, and a toner low release level C for detecting the release of the low state. When the amount of toner remaining in the toner container calculated by the calculation unit becomes 0, the control unit changes to a toner low detection level B' in which the low state is easily detected compared with the toner low detection level B, and changes to a toner low detection level C' in which the release of the low state is not easily detected compared with the toner low release level C.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】トナーセンサーによる現像装置内のトナー量の検知精度を高めることにより、トナーコンテナ毎の印字枚数のばらつきを抑制可能な画像形成装置を提供する。【解決手段】画像形成装置は、現像装置と、トナーコンテナと、トナーセンサーと、演算部と、制御部と、を備える。トナーセンサーは、トナーコンテナから現像装置へのトナー補給開始状態を検知するトナー補給検知レベルＡと、トナー量が一定量以下であるＬｏｗ状態を検知するトナーＬｏｗ検知レベルＢと、Ｌｏｗ状態の解除を検知するトナーＬｏｗ解除レベルＣと、を有する。制御部は、演算部によって算出されたトナーコンテナ内のトナー残量が０になったとき、トナーＬｏｗ検知レベルＢに比べてＬｏｗ状態が検知され易いトナーＬｏｗ検知レベルＢ′に変更するとともに、トナーＬｏｗ解除レベルＣに比べてＬｏｗ状態の解除が検知され難いトナーＬｏｗ検知レベルＣ′に変更する。【選択図】図６
