Zusammenfassung:To provide a metal melting device, when a metallic material is melted by arc discharge from an electrode, capable of controlling the height position of the electrode in consideration of plural phenomena related to the arc discharge.SOLUTION: In a metal melting device 1, a furnace conditions determination part 51, based on a plurality of pieces of information selected from a first information showing the height position of the tip in an electrode 15, a second information including an information related to at least either a generation sound from a furnace body 11 or a feed power source to the electrode 15 and a third information showing at least either the frequency of elevation of the electrode 15 in impedance control or the elevation width thereof and the shape of the furnace body 11, determines the progress conditions of the melting of a metallic material M in the lower part of the electrode 15, and when it is determined that the melting of the metallic material M in the lower part of the electrode 15 is progressing above a predetermined level, the parameters of the impedance control are changed and are made into at least either a state in which the elevation speed of the electrode 15 by an electrode elevation device 30 is reduced or a state in which the position of the electrode 15 is lowered.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】電極からのアーク放電によって金属材料を溶解させる際に、アーク放電に関わる複数の現象を考慮して、電極の高さ位置を制御することができる金属溶解装置を提供する。【解決手段】炉況判定部51が、電極15の先端の高さ位置を示す第一情報と、炉体11からの発生音と、電極15への供給電源との少なくとも一方に関わる情報を含む第二情報と、インピーダンス制御における電極15の昇降の頻度、および昇降幅の少なくとも一方を示す第三情報と、から選択される複数の情報と、炉体11の形状と、に基づいて、電極15の下方における金属材料Mの溶解の進捗状況を判定し、電極15の下方における金属材料Mの溶解が、所定水準以上に進捗していることが判定されると、インピーダンス制御のパラメータを変更し、電極昇降装置30による電極15の昇降速度を小さくした状態および電極15の位置を下げた状態の少なくとも一方とする、金属溶解装置1とする。【選択図】図1
