To provide a printer which can selectively print on a roll sheet or a cut-form paper and be installed on a narrow space.SOLUTION: A recording device 10 includes: a first cover 70 which may move relative to a recording part 20 which makes records on a sheet S and which moves to a first open position where the first cover 70 opens a space in which the sheet S including the records made by the recording part 20 is transported and a first closing position where the first cover 70 closes the space; and a second cover 80 which may move relative to the first cover 70. A moving direction of the first cover 70 and a moving direction of the second cover 80 relative to the recording part 20 include the same direction component.
