To output a uniform image without unevenness in an ink jet recording device which adopts short pulse heating.SOLUTION: In a serial type ink jet recording device 1, short pulse heating for a recording head 102 is performed before each recording scan is performed. At this time, when a recording medium P is a first recording medium, the recording head 102 is heated to a first target temperature before each recording scan is performed.
