To provide an open deck type cylinder block that secures high cooling efficiency between cylinders while preventing vibrations of the cylinders.SOLUTION: A cylinder block 1 comprises: a plurality of cylinders 2 formed in series; a water jacket 4 formed so as to surround the plurality of cylinders 2, and opened in a deck surface 3; an inter-cylinder water passage 5 extended in such a manner that a lower end is connected to the water jacket 4, and an upper end is opened on the side of the deck surface 3 between the adjacent cylinders 2; and a column part 6 interposed between inner and outer walls of the water jacket 4, erected upward from a bottom side, and of which an upper end is located at a position higher than the lower end of the inter-cylinder water passage 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】気筒の振動を防止しつつ、気筒間の高い冷却効率を確保したオープンデッキタイプのシリンダブロックを提供する。【解決手段】直列して形成された複数の気筒２と、複数の気筒２を取り囲むように形成され、デッキ面３に開口するウォータジャケット４と、下端がウォータジャケット４と接続し、上端が隣り合う気筒２の間においてデッキ面３側に開口するように延設される気筒間水路５と、ウォータジャケット４の内外壁の間に介在し、底部側から上向きに立設され、上端が気筒間水路５の下端よりも高い位置となる柱部６と、を備えたことを特徴とするシリンダブロック１を構成する。【選択図】図１
