To provide an optimized fiber combining contact and friction between a filament and a pile yarn and lightness for obtaining excellent pile holding performance.SOLUTION: A hollow polymer fiber has quadrilateral cross sections, in which four peaks substantially form a square shape, all the four sides have a recessed shape or a linear shape, the hollow degree of the cross sections in the fiber falls within the range of 12 to 25%, and the fineness of the fiber falls within the range of 4 to 16 dtex.
