Zusammenfassung:To provide speedy and steady methods for identifying microbial species contained in samples.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for identifying microbial species in a sample, which comprises the steps of: incubating a mixture of a sample and a culture medium at an incubation temperature; heating the incubated mixture at a temperature higher than the incubation temperature to obtain a gaseous phase containing substances vaporized from the mixture; identifying the substances in the gaseous phase; identifying the microbial species contained in the sample on the basis of the identified substances.
