A time-varying voltage is supplied to at least one electrode 7 located on the outer surface of the inner plate 5 to form a glow discharge plasma in the volume between the microcavity 30 and the inner plate 5 to efficiently and uniformly emit UV/VUV radiation over the entire surface of the plasma lamp 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1B
