To provide a pile driver which, in spite of its compact structure, is equipped with an auger that maintains stable posture in a component state and can improve transportability.SOLUTION: A removable auger 33 that moves up and down along the front of a reader has a rotary drive device 35 that inserts a drive rod so that it can rotate and move in the axial direction, an elevating drive device 36 that supports the rotary drive device 35 in a cantilever manner, and a chuck mechanism 37 provided at the bottom of the rotary drive device 35 that regulates the axial movement of the drive rod.
