Zusammenfassung:To provide a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas which has an improved exhaust gas diffusion property to whole catalyst layer.SOLUTION: There is provided a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas comprising: a base material; and a catalyst layer 20 which is arranged on the base material, and contains a catalyst metal and a carrier material 21 carrying the catalyst metal. The catalyst layer 20 fulfills both of following conditions: (1) having the largest peak of pore volume in a range of 1 to 10 μm of a pore diameter in a pore distribution curve measured by a mercury porosimeter; and (2) in an electron microscope observation image (observation magnification: 1000 times) of a surface of the catalyst layer 20, when areas of a plurality of voids included in the electron microscope observation image are calculated respectively, a standard deviation of the areas of the plurality of voids is 30 μm2 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】触媒層全体への排ガス拡散性が向上した排ガス浄化用触媒を提供する。【解決手段】本発明により、基材と、上記基材に配置され、触媒金属と上記触媒金属を担持する担持材料21とを含む触媒層20と、を備える排ガス浄化用触媒が提供される。触媒層20は、以下の条件:(1)水銀ポロシメータで測定される細孔分布曲線において、細孔直径1〜10μmの範囲に細孔容量の最も大きなピークを有する;(2)触媒層20の表面の電子顕微鏡観察画像(観察倍率1000倍)において、上記電子顕微鏡観察画像に含まれる複数の空隙の面積をそれぞれ算出したときに、上記複数の空隙の面積の標準偏差が、30μm2以下である;をいずれも満たす。【選択図】図2
