Zusammenfassung: | To provide an imaging apparatus that detects a change in a subject to perform imaging, the imaging apparatus reducing power consumption while appropriately detecting the change in the subject.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging unit that has a pixel unit in which a plurality of pixels are arranged; and a control unit that switches between a first detection mode for dividing the pixel unit into a plurality of first division areas and detecting a subject based on a signal obtained by reducing the number of pixels for each of the first division areas, and a second detection mode for dividing the pixel unit into a plurality of second division areas different in size from the first division areas and detecting a subject based on a signal obtained by reducing the number of pixels for each of the second division areas. When a subject is detected in at least one of the first detection mode and the second detection mode, the control unit causes the imaging unit to perform an operation to pick up an image for recording.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 17
