Zusammenfassung: | To provide a carbon-based gas diffusion electrode and a method for the production thereof, by means of which the reduction of oxygen can be carried out both in an acidic electrolyte (pH8) without hydrogen peroxide being formed, the reaction occurring with high current yields, and the electrode has a satisfactory long-term stability.SOLUTION: A gas diffusion electrode has at least one sheet-like electrically conductive support element, a gas diffusion layer applied to the support element, and an electrocatalyst, wherein: the gas diffusion layer is formed by a mixture of carbon nanotubes and fluoropolymer, in particular PTFE; and a mixture of carbon nanotubes and fluoropolymer is applied in powder form to the support element and compacted.SELECTED DRAWING: None
