Zusammenfassung:To improve security of a key system that executes operation of an on-vehicle device.SOLUTION: A method of controlling an on-vehicle device by using a key system 100 is provided in which the key system determines in accordance with an authentication processing result of an ID code wirelessly transmitted from an electronic key 110 whether to permit the operation of the on-vehicle device, including releasing and locking of a door lock and determines in accordance with an authentication processing result of an ID code wirelessly transmitted from a portable terminal 200 including a key function whether to permit the operation of the on-vehicle device. The portable terminal authentication processing includes a second authentication processing in which when a first authentication processing performed by an on-vehicle electronic key 130 is established, the authentication of the ID code wirelessly transmitted from the portable terminal is transmitted from the on-vehicle electronic key to an electronic key authentication ECU 120 and the authentication of the ID code transmitted from the on-vehicle electronic key is performed by the electronic key authentication ECU 120.
