To provide a printer that is able to prevent bleeding by improving ink drying capability in a region of a recording medium, which region corresponds to an end region of a platen in a main scanning direction of a carriage.SOLUTION: A printer 1 comprises: a support portion (a platen 48) that supports a recording medium (rolled paper S); a printing unit (a printing unit 40) that forms an image by ejecting ink onto the rolled paper S, supported by the platen 48, while reciprocally moving in a main scanning direction; and a drying acceleration unit by which drying of ink that has landed on the rolled paper S by its being ejected by the printing unit 40 is accelerated while the rolled paper S is kept supported by the platen 48.
