Zusammenfassung: | To obtain an image reading device with stable optical characteristics at the end of a light guide without complicating a manufacturing process.SOLUTION: An image reading device includes a light guide that guides light incident from the end face of a rod-shaped transparent body that extends along a main scanning direction of a sensor unit, a scattering unit formed on the surface of the light guide on the opposite side of the irradiation position along the main scanning direction to scatter light, an exit unit formed on the surface of the light guide between the scattering unit and the irradiation position along the main scanning direction, and in which a scattering unit emits the scattered light to the irradiation position, and a stepped unit formed on the light guide on the side opposite to the irradiation position along the main scanning direction from the end face, and a light-shielding unit that extends beyond the stepped unit in the main scanning direction and whose end is outside a reading range in the main scanning direction of the sensor unit, which is a member that covers a part of the exit unit of the light guide including the end face.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
