Zusammenfassung:	To provide a magnetic recording medium with an improved electromagnetic conversion property.SOLUTION: A magnetic recording medium 10 provided herein is a tape-like magnetic recording medium and comprises a base material 11 and a magnetic layer 13 containing magnetic powder provided on the base material. The magnetic layer has an average thickness of 90 nm or less, and the magnetic powder has an average aspect ratio in a range of 1.0 to 3.0, inclusive. The magnetic recording medium has a vertical coercive force Hc1 of 3000 Oe or less, and the vertical coercive force Hc1 and a longitudinal coercive force Hc2 satisfy a relationship expressed as: Hc2/Hc1≤0.8.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】電磁変換特性を向上することができる磁気記録媒体を提供する。【解決手段】磁気記録媒体１０は、テープ状の磁気記録媒体であって、基体１１と、基体上に設けられ、磁性粉を含む磁性層１３とを備える。磁性層の平均厚みが、９０ｎｍ以下であり、磁性粉の平均アスペクト比が、１．０以上３．０以下であり、垂直方向における保磁力Ｈｃ１が、３０００Ｏｅ以下であり、垂直方向における保磁力Ｈｃ１と、長手方向における保磁力Ｈｃ２とが、Ｈｃ２／Ｈｃ１≦０．８の関係を満たす。【選択図】図１
