To provide a light shielding device capable of suppressing lowering of operability while securing image quality.SOLUTION: A light shielding device (1) is provided on a microscope (MS) for observing a specimen (S) arranged at an observation position on a stage 8 and capable of switching between a state of shielding the external light incident on the sample and a state of the non-light-shielding.
