Zusammenfassung:	To provide a monofilament for a fishing line excellent in abrasion resistance.SOLUTION: A monofilament for a fishing line is a polyethylene fiber monofilament composed of a polyethylene having an intrinsic viscosity [η] of 5.0 dL/g or greater and 40.0 dL/g or less, and a repeating unit being substantially ethylene.
