SELECTING DEVICE

To provide a selecting device that selects broken fragments according to a content ratio of added metal and that easily attains to a selection rate close to an intended selection rate.SOLUTION: In a selecting device 1, a camera 13 acquires surface information associated with a surface shape of a broken fragment. An image processing part 24 calculates, based upon the acquired surface information, a wrinkle ratio which is a ratio of a wrinkle part on a surface of the broken fragment. A distribution acquisition part 26 acquires a distribution of wrinkle ratios. A threshold calculation part 28 calculates, based upon the distribution that the distribution acquisition part 26 acquires, a wrinkle ratio threshold so that a selection ratio of broken pieces reaches a predetermined value. A selection control part 25 compares the wrinkle ratio threshold that the threshold calculation part 28 calculates with the wrinkle ratio that the image processing part 24 calculates.
