To provide a novel technique which enables printing to be performed in print settings corresponding to a medium to be printed.SOLUTION: A printing device 1 comprises: a printing part 44 that performs printing on a tape-like medium M to be printed; a detecting part 41 that detects medium information printed on a printing surface of the medium M to be printed; and a control part 43 that controls the printing part 44 and the detecting part 41.
