To provide a shield tunneling machine capable of predicting intrusion of sediment at low cost.SOLUTION: A shield tunneling machine is provided with: a plurality of sediment seals arranged between a cutter drum attached on a cutter head and a tunneling machine body; a pump supplying lubricant in a lubricant cavity formed between two adjacent sediment seals of the plurality of the sediment seals; a circulation line circulating the lubricant between the pump and the lubricant cavity; a foreign material sensor arranged between the sediment seals and the tunneling machine body, or in the circulation line, to detect a material different from the lubricant; and a determination device determining there is an abnormality when the foreign material sensor detects the different material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】土砂の浸入を低コストで予測することができるシールド掘進機を提供する。【解決手段】シールド掘進機は、カッターヘッドに取り付けられたカッタードラムと掘進機本体との間に設けられた複数の土砂シールと、複数の土砂シールのうちの隣り合う２つの土砂シールの間に形成される潤滑剤室に潤滑剤を供給するポンプと、ポンプと潤滑剤室との間で潤滑剤を循環させる循環ラインと、土砂シールと掘進機本体との間、又は循環ラインに設けられ、潤滑剤と異なる物質を検出する異物質センサと、異物質センサが物質を検出した場合に異常と判断する判断装置と、を備えている。【選択図】図２
