To reduce the time required to separate coins.SOLUTION: A coin separator includes a deposit unit 10a and a separation unit 10b. The separation unit 10b includes: a stopper 174 that controls the conveyance of a coin K when a leading coin K among the coins K conveyed to the deposit unit 10a comes into contact with the separation unit 10b in such a manner that the leading coin K protrudes rearward from a rear end of an upper stretched portion 12a of a deposit belt 12; a pair of left and right separation belts 172 stretched endlessly in such a manner that it inclines downward gradually toward the rear between a pair of front and rear separation pulleys 171; and a separation pin 173 bridged between the separation belts 172 extending in the left-right direction.
