Zusammenfassung: | To provide more aggressive means to stabilize polymers from Mooney viscosity growth thereby solving the problem in which silicon-containing functionalities in a functionalized polymer have a very high affinity to undergo hydrolysis reactions with water.SOLUTION: A method comprises the steps of: polymerizing a conjugated diene monomer, optionally together with a copolymerizable monomer, to produce a polymerization mixture including a polymer having a reactive terminus; coupling a portion of the polymer having the reactive terminus with a hydrocarbyloxysiloxane to produce a polymerization mixture including a polymer coupled with the hydrocarbyloxysiloxane and a residual polymer having the reactive terminus, reacting the residual polymer having the reactive terminus with a functionalizing agent having at least one hydrocarbyloxy functionality to produce a polymerization mixture including a functionalized polymer and the polymer coupled with the hydrocarbyloxysiloxane, and desolventizing the polymerization mixture.SELECTED DRAWING: None
