The method for producing diiodosilane by dropping phenylsilane and a catalyst into a mixture of the solvent and iodine in a reaction tank 1 includes a step of continuously or intermittently taking out from the reaction tank 1 a small amount of a reaction mixture containing the solvent, iodine, phenylsilane, catalyst and a reaction product in the reaction tank 1, and transferring it while raising temperature thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
