STEEL TAPE MEASURE

To provide a steel tape measure 1 of a new type in which a steel measurement tape 4 is automatically extended from a case 2 without using an additional spring member like a reeling spring.SOLUTION: A steel tape measure 1 comprises a case 2, a drum 3, a steel measurement tape 4, and a lock mechanism 5. The measurement tape 4 is composed of a belt-shaped thin steel sheet having a spring property, is extended linearly in a free state, and has a curve cross-sectional shape. The drum 3 is supported rotatably in the case 2 and reels the measurement tape 4 in a coil shape to an inner peripheral surface 8a of a cylindrical wall 8 of the drum 3. The end of the measurement tape 4 is led out in an axial direction from the coil to a tape outlet 21 of the case 2. Since the measurement tape 4 led out in the axial direction from the coil is extended linearly while returning to the curve cross-sectional shape, the measurement tape 4 is automatically extended with the rotation of the drum 3 when the lock mechanism 5 is released.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】巻き取りばねのような付加的なばね部材を用いずに、ケース２から鋼製測定テープ４が自動に伸長する新規な形式の鋼製巻尺１を提供する。【解決手段】鋼製巻尺１は、ケース２と、ドラム３と、鋼製測定テープ４と、ロック機構５と、を備える。測定テープ４は、ばね性を有する帯状の薄い鋼板からなり、自由状態では直線状に延び、かつ湾曲断面形状を呈する。ドラム３は、ケース２内に回転自在に支持されており、ドラム３の円筒壁８内周面８ａに測定テープ４がコイル状に巻回される。測定テープ４の先端部は、コイルから軸方向外側へ出て、ケース２のテープ出口２１へと至る。コイルから軸方向へ出た測定テープ４は、湾曲断面形状に戻りながら直線状に延びようとするので、ロック機構５が解除されると、ドラム３の回転を伴って測定テープ４が自動に伸長する。【選択図】図６
