Zusammenfassung: | To provide methods for producing polyhydroxyalkanoic acid (PHA) using alginic acid as carbon source, and microorganisms capable of synthesizing PHA using alginic acid as a carbon source.SOLUTION: Disclosed herein a method for producing PHA comprising culturing a microorganism having an alginic acid assimilation ability and a PHA synthesizing ability in a culture medium containing any one of selected from the group consisting of alginic acid and decomposition products thereof, and extracting PHA from the culture. Also disclosed is a bacterial strain of the genus Cobetia having 16S rRNA gene which comprises: (a) a base sequence represented by a specific sequence number; or (b) a base sequence having 90% or more identity to a base sequence represented by a certain sequence number.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5A
