To provide a transfer device that is effective in controlling a plate width center position of a plate material to a plate width center target position in a transfer of the plate material using a pinch roll.SOLUTION: A transfer device 100 includes: a pair of upper and lower pinch rolls 1a, 1b sandwiching a plate material 2; a pinch roll housing 16 for holding the pinch rolls 1a, 1b; a movable mechanism 33 for making the pinch roll housing 16 movable in a transfer direction of the plate material 2 and in the opposite direction to the transfer direction; a regulating portion 37 for regulating movement of the pinch roll housing 16 in the transfer direction and in the opposite direction to the transfer direction; and a force measuring device 17 for detecting force acting between the pinch roll housing 16 and the regulating portion 37.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】ピンチロールを用いた板材の搬送において、板材の板幅中心位置を板幅中心目標位置に良好に制御するのに有効な搬送装置を提供する。【解決手段】搬送装置１００は、板材２を挟む上下一対のピンチロール１ａ，１ｂと、ピンチロール１ａ，１ｂを保持するピンチロールハウジング１６と、板材２の搬送方向および搬送方向の逆方向にピンチロールハウジング１６を可動にする可動機構３３と、搬送方向および搬送方向の逆方向へのピンチロールハウジング１６の移動を規制する規制部３７と、ピンチロールハウジング１６と規制部３７との間に作用する力を検出する力測定装置１７と、を備える。【選択図】図２
